The Utrecht Hills are a long wooded ridge in the middle of the country, with the height differences that are rare in the Netherlands. Country estates and castles like Amerongen and Doorn, sweeping heathlands and the Grebbeberg high above the Rhine make it a varied touring area, a stone's throw from the Randstad.

The height differences bring playful curves almost by themselves, and the view over the Rhine from the Grebbeberg is a classic turning point.
